I fell in love with cooking early in life. I remember shadowing the elders in the kitchen, obtaining a firsthand glimpse of food preparation, which seemed tedious yet fun and exciting. My basic training included how to clean meat, and the #1 rule (besides sanitation) was "DO NOT OVER OR UNDER SEASON ANYTHING!" I became the Sous Chef until my grandmother allowed me to make my first dish with her oversight; spaghetti with meat sauce. The family gave me the "thumbs up" that my spaghetti was delicious, and their approval gave me the confidence I needed to keep cooking.
